Oral surgery at Eastbury Dental – Master care for complex dental needs.

At Eastbury Dental, we provide specialist oral surgery treatments to ensure the safe and effective treatment of complex dental conditions. Whether you require a difficult tooth extraction, wisdom tooth removal, or surgical treatment for oral health concerns, our highly trained team is here to help.

We understand that oral surgery can feel daunting, which is why we prioritise gentle, pain-free techniques in a calm and comfortable environment. Our skilled dentists and specialists will guide you through the process, ensuring you feel informed and at ease every step of the way.

Our oral surgery treatments

We offer a range of advanced surgical treatments, including:

  • Complex and difficult tooth extractions: Teeth that are broken, severely decayed, or impacted can be challenging to remove. Our team uses the latest techniques to ensure a smooth, minimally invasive extraction.
  • Wisdom teeth removal: Wisdom teeth can cause pain, swelling, and infections if they become impacted. We offer talented removal procedures to prevent future complications and relieve discomfort.
  • Surgical tooth removal: In cases where a tooth cannot be easily removed due to its position or root structure, we perform precise surgical extractions to ensure a successful outcome.

Aftercare and recovery

Following your procedure, we provide clear aftercare guidance to support your healing and recovery. Proper care after an extraction or oral surgery is essential to reduce discomfort, prevent infection, and promote fast healing.

If you require oral surgery or would like advice on the ideal course of treatment, contact us today. Our friendly team is here to help you achieve optimal oral health with proficient care and a personalised approach.

Aftercare instructions for extractions

  • Bite on gauze: Keep gentle pressure on the gauze pad placed over the extraction site for 30-60 minutes to control bleeding. If bleeding continues, replace with a fresh gauze pad and bite down firmly.
  • Avoid rinsing or spitting for 24 hours: This prevents disturbing the blood clot forming in the socket, which is essential for healing.
  • Take pain relief as recommended: Over-the-counter painkillers like paracetamol or ibuprofen can help manage discomfort (avoid aspirin as it may increase bleeding).
  • Use an ice pack: Apply an ice pack to the cheek for 10-15 minutes at a time during the first 24 hours to minimise swelling and discomfort.
  • Eat soft foods: Stick to soft foods like soups, yoghurt, mashed potatoes, and smoothies for the first 24-48 hours. Avoid hot, spicy, or crunchy foods that may irritate the area.
  • Avoid drinking through a straw or smoking: Sucking motions can dislodge the blood clot, leading to dry socket, a painful condition that delays healing.
  • Keep your mouth clean: After 24 hours, gently rinse your mouth with warm salt water (1 teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water) 2-3 times a day, especially after meals. Avoid vigorous rinsing.
  • Rest and avoid strenuous activity: Physical exertion can increase bleeding and swelling, so rest for at least 24 hours after your extraction.
  • Follow-up care: If you experience severe pain, excessive bleeding, swelling, or signs of infection (such as fever or pus discharge), contact us immediately.
